Hehe, that looks funny.

So a lot has happen since the last post, if you've noticed I've been a little lazy about posting.

UMTYMP: 29, 23, 27
At least I think those are my scores.

I just got my ACT scores today. I'm super happy with them, because I did not think I would do so well in some of the sections. But the test did turn out to be the American Reading Test.
ACT: 33 English, 35 Mathematics, 34 Reading, 34 Science, 34 Composite.

Hmm. And I went to the party at Slagathor's* house. I was the only person that went, but it was fun nonetheless.

*His name isn't actually Slagathor, it's Baratheon**
**His name really isn't Baratheon. It is closer to Bosh***
***If you haven't figured it out by now, his name is actually Josh****
****Josh does not care whether his real name is used on the internet.

For those of you who enjoyed bodyworks. I have to say I admire the amount of work that undoubtedly went into that piece.

Argh, haircut and braces getting tightened. Could any combination of two events be worse?

I finished my ten page history assignment, huzzah! Actually that wasn't huzzah worthy, because I actually had to work my butt of in order to do it. Any sign of effort on my part is de facto not cool.

Some quacky British professor said today (Jan 22) is the most depressing day of the year, for various reasons I didn't care about. However it didn't sound like he was depressed, since he was happily using NPR to market whatever crap he is selling. And you know what? I'm inclined to agree with him. Guess why. It's because math league was today. Man, I had such a good time talking to myself, you know I really hate people. It was great, just me sitting alone, without even a measly book to read. Really, it was awesome, you shouldn't have been there. What the crap, seriously I give up. Next year I'm joining a team. Some team like Wayzata, Edina, or Eden Prairie. Imagine that, I could actually be on a team that held practices, and actually had a competitive shot at doing something. And actually had enthusiasm. And actually tried to improve itself through practice. And actually showed some motivation. Man, that would be the day.

Anyways as a quick wrap up of today's meet:
Event A was easy so I picked up full points
Event C was graded by dumb buttfricking school teachers that don't know algebra, so they didn't know n(n+1) = n^2 + n, so they graded my paper wrong, so they screwed my score, so they screwed my chances of going to state, so they forced me to have to do well on the AMC 12 or I won't qualify for ARML. I can't believe people pay taxes to give such silly people jobs.

I guess I promised a debate post, so here goes:
The journey: Well the ride on the Retard Racer (R) was about as crazy as I thought it would be. Which was very. I divided my team between reading The Silmarillion, creating a debate fight club, and working on various debate related things.
Day 1: The novices weren't actually competing the first day, so I watched a lot of round. One of my teammates did a round in 7 minutes, and won. It was a silly round though, a top ranked debater against some noobsy Nebraska debater that couldn't flow. To quote my teammate "Extend my burden analysis, I meet the burden. You affirm here."
Day 2:
Round 1: I lost off some crappy solvency argue. "He doesn't show that holding corporations to moral standards that respect human beings decreases exploitation." Hmm, that's sort of what my case was doing.
Round 2: This girl sucked. She said "ZOMG CORPORATIONS BREAK LAWS THEIR IMMORAL OH NOES." I said "Law isn't moral, look at the Nazis." Win for me!
Round 3: This round was just mentally retarded. The judge basically constructed new arguments for my opponent, extended his offense, and did all kinds of things to help him out.
Round 4: This was a funny round. My opponent ran a case saying that we should define corporation using the slang definition, which calls it a fat stomach. Unfortunately that played right into my case, which argues that corporations and individuals make decisions in different manners. My entire argument was "Stomachs and People make decisions differently, so you can't hold them to the same moral standard." I loled.

And also I'll do a quick report on music.
Moby: Don't like this guy to much, not great tunes, don't like his vocals much
Stereolab: This band has to be French, because I can never understand a word they are singing, and they have song titles like "Le Demure" and "Cosmic Country Noir." Actually, some of their songs are in English. But whatever, I love them. They have such addicting melodies and stuff, and I don't actually mind the French either.
Daft Punk: These guys are freaking insane, and I like this. Nothing like weird synthesizer voices saying "I am the brainwasher."
The Gorillaz: Andy doesn't like them, but I don't think they are too bad. You really have to watch their music videos to appreciate them.
Hybrid: I like them. Except for when the guy sings, the vocals are annoying.

And I found a book worse than Eldest! Dragons: Lexicon Triumvate. The author likes to go around on forums trying to promote his book by saying "If you love Harry Potter you'll love..." on Mugglenet, and then saying "If you hate Harry Potter you'll love" on some anti-potter site. So anyways he stumbled onto Anti-Shurtugal and wrote "If you hate Eragon you'll love...", after going on Shurtugal.net and writing "If you love Eragon you'll love..." Funny things is the ASers pretty much took his entire terrible book apart. (It's about cyber-dragons fighting in a medieval setting. Yeah.) And then they proceeded to tear him apart. It turns out he is a sexist, and a racist against all that are not Asian.

And I also went to Alanaxh's house this weekend for supper. The food was excellent. However it would seem that I'm unable to make conversation, because there was _waay_ too much awkward silence. And we also watched a Marx Brothers film, which was funny as too be expected. And I did some trading of Magic cards; couldn't get Ben to give up his Umezawa's Jitte, unfortunately. And that will conclude our much too long post.

Cool details on this. Interesting concept for a dragon also.

Went to two parties last night, sweet. The debate party was mostly us sitting around and talking about anything other than debate, since no one wanted to be reminded that school was starting again. And we watched a movie made by my teammate's euro class called FranceFranceRevolution. ^^ The math party was us talking about football (appearantly all this time math geeks have been ravid football fans I jus haven't known), watching the Cowboys vs. Seahawks game, and playing a large assortment of card games where everyone would be trying to calculate the probability of winning next turn. ^^ Math nerds are funny. And now I have to reenter the real world, where I have to write an article for my student newspaper. :(

And just a reminder, Mathcounts is coming up soon, and we still need a single (1) team member. Remember all you are giving up is about two (2) hours of your life on a Saturday mourning if you decide to participate. Think about, not that much of a commitment, and you'll see friends there. And if you decide you want to practice for it, then I can get you materials, and other stuff so that you an get ready, you just have to show an interest. If you spend maybe fifteen (15) minutes a day doing Mathcounts preparation instead of picking your nose (or whatever else you do to waste time :P) then you'll be super when it's time to compete.

Haha, go Hendrix!

Yeah whatever... UMTYMP test on Wednesday that I need to study for. >.< But I got a 96/100 on my physics test, so I'm pretty pleased with myself. Party this weekend, with funny (so bad it's funny) movie afterwards! Everyone should come.

I apologize if this is a repost. Cool moody environment scene. In fact I'm feeling sort of in this mood right now.

Okay so here is the lowdown
UMTYPM: 25 and 28
History: Quiz due
Philosophy: Is a cracked up class, and I have a 4 page essay due.
Writing: Some girl plagiarized my paper, and mine looks worse. wtf
Physics: Is okay I guess
Programming: I'm stuck

Anyways, last night my sister wouldn't go to sleep. A problem since we share a room. Sleep depravation, bad UMTYMP scores, recovering from a cold, and a cloudy day combined makes for one of those days.
But on a lighter note, there will be a party on Friday! It's sort of like a homeschoolers homecoming. Except we don't get dates or a dance. Well, maybe some people get dates... Anyhow, that should be pretty fun.
I've figured out how to implement a line-of-sight algorithm for a Realm Divided that takes into account my 3d terrain. Now I just have to implement it.
My sister is going around wearing a plastic bag; weird.
I was going to write more but now I forgot. Oh, right I'm having one of my best NetHack games ever; it looks like another ascension for me.

Boromir from the Lord of the Rings.

Eh, I'm really busy with two things:

1. Doing a rewrite of my English paper on the Scarler Ibis.

2. Writing my Affrimative and Negative cases for debate.

It wouldn't have beeen so bad if I didn't have to be out of the house for 6 hours today. First I had to go to the U of M to do some research. This wasn't helped by the fact that the Vikings had a home game today, because that screwed up parking. Then I had to visit my Grandpa, but he wan't home until a while after planned. That slowed me down for about an hour.
Then I had to go to a retirement party for a state representative who my parents evidently did campaign work for several years ago.
Yeah crap, and I still have UMTYMP to do. It took me a while to figrue out integreating factors for some reason, I must be getting slow. This a result of my trying to round out my interests and strengths. Whatever convinced me that I could write or do philosophy or history?
Anyhow I think is get the award for being the most convoluted blog post ever I have ever posted.
And apperantly the party is going to have to change time/location. Eh, whatever; I just hope that they remain on Fridays or the weekend, 'cause otherwise I can't attend.

Funny scene, the author explains what's going on in the post.

Whew, exhausting day today. I had company over almost the entire day, it's really hard to entertain 6 year olds.
I read Sabriel and Lirael in one day and I'm going to read Abhorsen pretty soon. They are really good books in a really cool setting. Kudos to Erin for recommending them, and for appreciating the greatness of Numa Numa.
The party was pretty good, I think they should be weekly at the very least, but then I've been lonely recently.
UMTYMP has a double due date, but the assignments seem pretty easy. I had around 350 pages of reading for US history, and probably more for philosophy. I finally got back the critics I need to use to revise my paper for English, a full day after the teacher promised.

POTD 15 and bonus!

POTD

Ooh, a really futurescape, definately not your standard model of a futuristic city.

POTD 1st Bonus

Nice head modeling, the details on the helmet are really good. The face is a little shiny, seems like there is too much specularity, but it's still good.

POTD 2nd Bonus

A cool apocalyptic picture, I'm really fond of those. :D

I just read the Scarlet Ibis, what a beuatiful story. I was so sad at the end of the story; I recommend it to everyone. I've got a lot of history to read, because I forgot to do reading while I was trying to fix my computer. Whoops.
Debate was cool, the coach was really nice and stayed over time to help me catch up from the two practices I missed because of UMTYMP. The team members are really funny, they probably spend as much time messing around as debating. :D
The party is today, yay!

You may have seen this again, but it's from the great game Killzone for the PS2. I was just recently kicking butt in that game.

Anyhow my life just got about 1000x more complex. My desktop (I'm using the laptop right now) gives me the infamous 'Blue screen of Death' native only to Microsoft computers when it starts up. That computer happened to have eveything I need to attend my virtual highschool, which means right now I'm screwed. I've already missed an entire day of class. UMTYMP lecture was poor again, I got 24/30 on my homework the lost points were all due my forgeting the constant of integration. *Smack* However my average is still 26.5 which is above my goal of 26 for the school year. I think there will be good attendance for the party on Friday, I hoping this will become weekly, because I haven't seen anyone in quite a while.

Wow quite a mouthfull. It's likely I'll have to buy a new computer to get this all working again. Grr. I've decided that the alpha version of a Realm Divided will be a roguelike, vastly simplifying my life as a programmer. I'll have to re-rip my music collection now too, atleast I have my shuffle. I was going to say something else too, but I forgot. Oh yes, tomorrow is my first debate practice that I can attend. Geeze, I just relised how out of shape I am. The 40 minutes of exercise that I have to do for my phy-ed contract has been hell, but it helps me sleep better. :D

3D model of Vladimir Putin, not sure what he looks like, so I can't check the accuracy of this. :D

Wow, homework is already starting to pile up.
Yesterday I went to a get together with some people in Wisconsin, some how while running around outside I manage rip my pants on some thorns. I also introduced 'The Stick Game' to people.
I managed to win a game of risk in two turns against people who actually knew how to play, it was sad: On the first turn I captured north AND south America. On my second turn I place my 12 bonus armies and conquer Europe and Africa. Then they resign.
